COLLABORATIONS

Our Collaborative Work
At SEA School, we believe that knowledge flourishes through connection. Whether growing an idea from within or responding to a commission, every project is rooted in a collaborative process. We treat co-creation not just as a method, but as a mindset—woven into how we work internally as a team, and with our clients, partners, and friends.
Our collaborations blend Science, Ecology, and the Arts into immersive learning experiences that transform landscapes into living classrooms, where curiosity leads and learning is always shared.
National Reptile Zoo:
Living Laboratories
Partnering with the National Reptile Zoo in Kilkenny, we've been working on research and development of dynamic learning environments through creative interactive design and science communication. Here we use habitats as learning zones!
From primary students to postgraduate learners, participants engage in experiential modules that align with the national curriculum, turning encounters with reptiles and amphibians into lessons in science, geography, ecology, design, communication and ecological awareness.
Puffin Rock Habitats Exhibition
In partnership with the Heritage Council and Cartoon Saloon, we co-created the Puffin Rock Habitats exhibition, with a focus on pedagogical processes and place-based ecological content. This is a traveling, immersive experience for children aged 3 to 12. The exhibition weaves the beloved world of Puffin Rock with Ireland's coastal habitats, connecting young minds to their local ecosystems through storytelling, design, and interactive exploration.

Earth CoLab science Design and Learning
Our sister organisation in the Indian Ocean region, Earth CoLab, curates immersive learning expeditions that blend science, design, and place-based education. Together, we co-create field research experiences and curricular processes that invite participants from Atlantic shores to step beyond their comfort zones, engaging in embodied learning practices within diverse ecosystems.

Dark 'n' Light
Dark 'n' Light is an interdisciplinary platform that explores science, nature, social justice, and culture through the arts and humanities. Tasneem is presently in the process of publishing an eight-part photo essay series titled "MaraTime". This project juxtaposes perspectives from the Indian Ocean and Atlantic shores, weaving narratives that explore the interplay of science, ecology, and art through the lens of dual awareness and interconnectedness.

Heritage in Schools:
Place-Based Learning Modules
Expanding on the Puffin Rock initiative, we collaborated with Heritage in Schools Ireland to develop place-based learning modules and a resource guide for educators. These expand the possibilities of habitat centric learning - with 28 workshops, adaptable for both classroom and field settings. We explore, get our feet wet and spend time in grasslands, wetlands, intertidal zones, and marine systems, fostering a deeper connection between students and their local environments.
Waterford County Council:
Community Biodiversity Engagement
Collaborating with Waterford County Council's Biodiversity Office towards the development of the current county specific Biodiversity Action Plan - we are in the process of facilitating community and focus group consultations through engaging, field-based activities. These initiatives invite local communities to explore and appreciate sites of ecological significance, fostering a collective sense of stewardship and connection to the natural world.
Kilkenny County Council: An introductory course to local biodiversity
In collaboration with Kilkenny County Council’s Biodiversity Office, SEA School is assisting with the curation and coordination of "Wild Kilkenny: Discover, Learn, Protect, Record"—a 5-week immersive course introducing local biodiversity to community members. Spanning habitats, geology, species ID, and ecology, the program blends field visits with citizen science tools, empowering participants to explore and record their local landscapes with new depth and care.
