ABOUT SEA SCHOOL

What can the stories of yesterday's shorelines teach us about the present?
What can we learn from people and places today that will influence our futures?

SEA School studios & labs is a mobile learning centre to explore Science, Ecology and the Arts in the field.
We're returning the word school to its original meaning:
leisure

Meet The Team

Tasneem Khan
Founder | Director
Tas is a biologist, artist and educator exploring how people relate to, engage with and learn from place. Her practice is rooted in an evolving study on the literacy of landscape - through field research, shared-value enterprises, the immersive learning pedagogy, and community-held knowledge systems.
Each of her projects involve facilitating interdisciplinary initiatives.
Now based in Ireland, her work straddles, contrasts and draws from field sites across the Atlantic and Indian Oceans

Kelly Kerr
Project Lead | Facilitator
Kelly is delighted to support the incredible mission of Sea School through communications, program development; and facilitation.
Hailing from Alberta, Canada, Kelly has spent much of her life exploring the forests and wetlands of the Rocky Mountains. Her passion for helping kids and families connect to nature led to many great jobs involving camps, events, and fundraisers - and to exciting encounters involving bears, moose, cougars, and cows!
Through SEA School, Kelly and her family have learned so much about Irish biodiversity and placed-based practices.

Mignon Carr
Research Associate
Mignon Carr is a conservation biologist with a strong background in ecology and environmental science.
She has worked across various sectors, including ecological research coordination, marine and wildlife rehabilitation, environmental education, and zoo-based husbandry and conservation.
With hands-on fieldwork experience and strong analytical skills, Mignon especially enjoys engaging with people of all ages, sharing knowledge, and building community awareness around biodiversity protection and environmental solutions.

Sam Dunlop Doyle
Research Associate
Sam has a wide range of skills and experiences from education to media and podcasting. He is motivated by opportunities to bring people closer to their local environments, and believes that,
‘No one will protect what they don't care about, and no one will care about what they have never experienced.’
Inspired by National Geographic, Sam has visited many tropical locations around the world. He enjoys exploring different cultures, studying the diversity of life, and understanding the ways nature contributes to society and economies.

Faye White
Research Associate
Faye is a recently graduated wildlife biologist from Munster Technological University Kerry. Growing up on the coast in Waterford, she nurtured her interest in nature and ecology from a young age, exploring the diverse landscapes right on her doorstep.
Faye has hands-on experience in ecological research, notably working with the invasive species Rhododendron ponticum, which involved mapping its extent across northern Connemara, County Galway, and parts of County Mayo. She is passionate about conserving Ireland's natural habitats and combating invasive species.
"We are all shaped by the sound of the wind, the slant of sunlight, by streams of scent afloat in the larger ocean of air. We are porous to the world around us"
