Tidal Tales invites children and families to explore the magical world of Ireland’s coastal ecosystems. Through science, storytelling and creativity, participants discover how creatures living between land and sea survive in one of the most extreme habitats on Earth — the intertidal zone.

The experience combines ecology, imagination and storytelling, reflecting Sea School’s mission to connect people to the ocean through curiosity and creativity.

Step inside the Sea School tent and discover the magical world where land meets sea.

Ireland is an island surrounded by a vast ocean — ten times more water than land. Along our shores lies one of the most extraordinary habitats on Earth: the intertidal zone, a place that is sometimes ocean, sometimes land, and always full of surprises.

In Tidal Tales, children and families are invited to explore the secrets of creatures that live between the tides.

At our Discovery Corner, meet the real-life wonders of Ireland’s coast. Examine shells, urchin spines, feathers, pebbles, sea treasures and microscopic life under lenses, and learn from Sea School ecologists about the incredible adaptations that allow animals and plants to survive waves, wind, sun and salt.

Then visit the Creative Corner, where imagination takes over.

Design your own Creature of the Tides — a new species with the superpowers needed to survive a changing ocean. Give it a name, design its body, imagine how it moves, eats, communicates and lives.

Your creature will become part of our growing Tidal Tales Book, a giant collaborative story created by festival explorers.

Science, storytelling and creativity come together in this hands-on experience celebrating the wild magic of Ireland’s seas.
