What to expect:

  • Playtronica turns touch and the tiny electric fields of plants and objects into live sound. Learn to compose some fun dance music with Mark White (from the KingKong Company!)

  • Unusual macro lenses clip to your phone so you can film the hidden worlds underfoot.

  • Build it into your own music and video — sounds, impressions and footage, mixed live.

Youth Ecology Art:

Youth Ecology Art is a programme for 13 to 17 year-olds at Butler Gallery. It offers young people interested in art, ecology, biodiversity and sustainability, the opportunity to work with and learn from professional artists.

An evolving network of musicians, artists, curators and scientists — here to make alongside you, not lecture at you.


Programme curator:

Tasneem Khan

Biologist, educator, diver, sailor and photographer. Two decades documenting coastal and intertidal worlds across the Indian Ocean and Atlantic — bringing science and lived experience into the same frame.


Musician:

Mark White

Mark White is a Waterford-based musician and producer best known for his work with festival favourites, King Kong Company. In the studio, Mark takes the helm as producer and engineer, blending gritty analog synths with lo-fi percussion to create a unique sonic footprints. Beyond work with King Kong Company, Mark has also dj'd at major festivals under pseudonyms Travis Bickle and Necksnapper.
